Lovers Lane by Mike Colonna

SCRIPT TITLE Written by Mike Colonna

LOVERS LANE Jimmy O’Connor and his girlfriend Teri Taylor were on their way home from a fraternity party. On their way home Jimmy took a detour and Teri noticed Jimmy was on a deserted road. TERI I don’t think this is a great idea, Jimmy. It’s dark and scary.

JIMMY Teri, I think we should talk. TERI TAYLOR I’m scared. JIMMY Don’t worry about a thing. I only want to spend a little more time with you. It’s beautiful, secluded and very private, let’s get to know each other better. Jimmy parks the car in the deepest shadows of the roadside, where he an Teri could enjoy gazing out at the moon and stars peeking through the branches and leaves. Jimmy was more interested in his passenger than the sites. He slid across the seat and embraced his date. TERI TAYLOR Not so fast Jimmy. JIMMY Just a few kisses to warm you up. Teri was skittish while she allowed Jimmy to kiss her once or twice.

TERI TAYLOR I’m not crazy about this place. JIMMY What’s wrong? You liked me enough earlier, what’s the problem? TERI TAYLOR I do like you, but I’m a little frightened out here in the middle of nowhere. I heard on the radio about a deranged killer on the lose. 2. JIMMY Yea I heard about that too. They said he was a dangerous crazy person who escaped from that mental institution outside of town. He lost his hand in an accident now he wears a metal hook on his right hand. Ok, I understand, I can handle the situation. There’s nothing to worry about. He’s probably hundreds of miles from here by now. TERI TAYLOR So you’re not scared? JIMMY I’m here to protect you. Jimmy makes another pass at Teri. He wraps his arms around her. Teri tries to enjoy the moment until she hears a twig snap and something rub against the passenger door. She jumps with fear. TERI TAYLOR What’s that?

JIMMY It’s nothing, now let’s get back in the mood. I can handle anything. There’s no one here except you and me. Teri tears up. TERI TAYLOR That’s what you think. I’m frightened. It’s dark out here and we’re at least an hour out of town. Something is not right. I can’t shake this feeling that something horrible is about to happen. JIMMY You’re right, and this obsession that something is wrong has ruined the evening. Let’s just go home and pretend this never happened. Ticked off, he starts the car, shoves the handle into drive and steps on it. The tires spin, and the car slides up to the soft shoulder. The car bounces around on the uneven path to the main road. Not a word was spoken on their way home. 3. He drove like a madman back to her house. She wasn’t happy with the situation. They approached her house, she felt relieved. They arrive in front of her house. He pretends to be a gentleman, jumps out of the car and tries to regain her respect again. Teri was lost in her thoughts as she waited for the passenger car door to open. She waited for the door to open, she turned and looked outside the window. Jimmy was in a state of shock. He was shaking, he looked like he had just seen a ghost. His eyes were fixed on the passenger door.

TERI TAYLOR What’s wrong? What’s happening? She opened the door and quickly got out. Her actions jolted Jimmy out of his state of shock. JIMMY Don’t look, Teri, Come towards me, and don’t look back. She turned to her boyfriend and then looked back. TERI TAYLOR Oh my God. Teri faints. Hanging from the handle of the passenger door was a frightening metal hook.
